The School had arranged for a Field Visit – General Post Office on the 18th November 2017 between 10.00 to 11.30 am, as per the requisite of the EVS 1 syllabus to get a first hand experience as to how the post office works .
The in charge teachers of the visit were Mrs Tanuja Ranawade ( Class teacher – IV B) , Mr. Sanjit Kamble ( Class Teacher – IV C), Mrs. Manali Jadhav ( Assistant Helper Teacher – IV A ), Miss Pratiksha Kamble ( Assistant helper teacher ) and Mr. Tushar More ( Peon ).
The GPO visit was guided by Mrs A. R. Potdar , Deputy Post Master , GPO, Pune-1 and her staff. They gave information to the students regarding :
- Savings in Post Office
- Functions of Information Department in Post office
- ATM
- Various Post office Saving Schemes
- Parcel Section
- Philatelic Bureau
- Post card and other types of letters , stamps and how to post a letter .
- Stamping and sorting of letters .
The students were given hands on experience of stamping which they enjoyed a lot . A post card was provided to the students to write their experience about their visit and post it back to the GPO on which the students were overwhelmed as they were going to write a post card for the first time in their life in today’s age of WhatsApp and email.
The students were departed from the Post office by distributing chocolates by the GPO and it was an enjoyable and informative visit as in today’s time of digitalization, children don’t know much about the role of post office.
